About Us

During the Emergency ready community leadership program run by Wyndham Council in 2014, a few women participants led by Monica Raizada and Rozae came up with the idea of creating a new association while doing their project “Women at The Park” aiming to provide a platform for local women to engage on community matters, promote gender equality, social & cultural inclusion and create awareness on prevention of domestic violence. In the formation of WoW, they included the essential women building blocks and local community leaders.

The core team of WoW initially comprised of five locally active women from different walks of life and cultures, including Australian, Indian, English, Burmese and Samoan backgrounds(which, of course, got expanded in due course), working towards creating awareness on
issues faced by the local community with Monica Raizada as the President and Rozae as Secretary.

WOW was launched on 6th October 2015, facilitated by Wyndham Council/City and attended by our local federal MP Joanne Ryan, Wyndham Council Mayor Cr Peter Maynard,
Cr Bob Fairclough, Cr Gautam Gupta, Sharon Brown, many senior Council staff and community leaders. WOW appreciated women from different organisations and capacities, positively impacting our space.

After the successful venture of Women of Wyndham, upon request by women from different parts of Australia and encouraged by then VMC Commissioner Sisay Dinku, the WOW team
took the step to launch Multicultural Women of The World (MWOW) on 20th July 2019 while celebrating ‘Paint It Purple’ event. MWOW aims to create a strong support system and lobby, working towards a safer world for women.
